Social Media Marketing Strategy – What you need to know

The popularity and massive usage of social media of the young and old were seen advantageous by the big and small entrepreneurs. However, it would be wise for an entrepreneur to study and analyze the perfect attack to penetrate the market. Usage of social media must not be put behind in creating the marketing plan or strategy.

Before we take time and exert effort in signing up to social media sites or creating pages or blogs; it is important that we know the demography of our target audience. Top three important things to know is their age bracket, social class and gender, by learning so would help you identify which of the top social media platforms best suit our business. Once this has been identified, research for a reliable social media demographic report that could help you analyze which among Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Google+ would be the effective and efficient marketing tool.  One example is the 2014 demographic report released in the third quarter of 2014; that teenagers and young adult Facebook users dropped down by 6.7 million while there was an increase of 10.8 million with the adult users of the same year.  The big drop was the change of social media the teens and young adults use. This type of information is essential in order for us to decide the proper online tool.

Once these have been identified, both target audience and social media tool respectively; we now analyze the kind of thinking our target audience has. The following questions should be answered on this stage:

- Does our consumers has complex understanding with our products and services?
-What is conceivable to the target audience?
-What marketing style would interest the target audience?
-What advertising material will be the most effective on the launching?

As soon as these questions have been answered, planning on the perfect social media marketing emerges. There are several ways to do Marketing and these marketing strategies could also be adopted in online marketing; example of these are as follows:

Relationship Marketing - the type of marketing where we focus on building relationship with the consumers until we lead them to buying.
Transactional Marketing - this type of marketing encourages consumers to buy their products through constant promotions such as running events, giving out discounts and coupons.
Call- to- Action Marketing - This type of marketing is one of the best methods to use on online marketing as it aims to build traffic into leads or sales using the internet.
Seasonal Marketing - is the type of marketing strategy we could utilize to sell and promote in relation to a season.  Say selling of Time Planners in the last quarter of the current year in preparation for the next year,

Above all this, none could still beat the Word-of-Mouth Marketing as we could gain more clients and followers online through referrals and feedbacks from our previous clients.  Again, these are just some of the hundred ways of marketing strategies that could be applied on online marketing.


Now, we are set to start our business online but we always have to remember that this is a cycle and a non- stop process. Hence, we should always be prepared with the fast-paced change in the industry.
